Oil and Maintenance Guide for 2017 Arctic Cat Alterra 400 400
Before You Service the Engine
Before servicing the 2017 Arctic Cat Alterra 400 400, confirm the lubricant requirements and prepare to verify the final fluid level. A catalog recommendation is a starting point rather than proof of every manufacturer requirement; consult the correct service instructions before adding fluid.
How much oil does a 2017 Arctic Cat Alterra 400 400 take?
The available engine-oil capacity figure is 2.96 quarts. The amount added during a routine drain may differ from the listed capacity; use the correct level-check procedure when refilling.
Does using synthetic oil change the viscosity grade an ATV needs?
No. Synthetic describes how the oil is formulated; it is separate from the SAE viscosity grade. A synthetic oil still needs the appropriate grade and engine-application specifications.
