What is the Oil Type and Capacity of a 2023 Jeep Wrangler?
published on January 16th, 2023 by Searchforparts.com
The 2023 Wrangler oil type and capacity depend on the engine size. The 2.0L engine needs 5 quarts of 5W-30 synthetic oil, the 3.6-liter engines need 5 quarts of 0W-20 synthetic, and the 3.0 diesel engine needs 9 quarts of 5W-40 synthetic oil. This information has been verified from the owner’s manual. In our experience, it is a good idea to double-check your engine size before changing the oil by using resources online to search for your VIN number or contact your local Jeep dealer for further assistance.
After verifying your engine size then you can buy the correct oil type and amount. Our experience with VIN lookup is that it can be tricky, but once you get the hang of it with some tutorials online, it is actually easy. We used this method to verify many vehicles so that we can advise the customer about which is the correct oil needed for a vehicle.

Is there a break-in period or requirement for my 2023 Wrangler?
According to the manual, a long break-in period isn’t necessary for the engine and transmission. Drive moderately for the first 300 miles and after the initial 60 miles driven, speeds up to 50 or 55 mph are desirable. “While cruising, brief full-throttle acceleration within the limits of local traffic laws contributes to a good break-in. Wide-open throttle acceleration in low gear can be detrimental and should be avoided.” (Jeep, 2023, p. 133)
