What else can I do to protect my engine?

Always check the engine oil level since the engine may consume more oil than normal or a leak may happen, especially in older engines. Flush the coolant and check the transmission fluid level. Getting good engine filters to keep the engine clean such as a high-end oil filter and engine air filter are great ideas. Changing the engine oil to a good synthetic is another way of extending the engine life.
