Team Sets Record with the Help of AMSOIL

Marka Gallina of Gallina Racing in Phoenix, Arizona set a National Hot Rod Association record in the quarter mile with a time of 11.28 seconds at 109.19 mph while driving her 1984 Buick Regal T-Type. Gallina also set a record in a different class with the time of 12.26 seconds at 108.09 mph. TEXAS TURBO Dragster Sets Records with AMSOIL

Gene Deputy, President of TEXAS TURBO ENGINEERING, Inc. designs and builds racing engines. He is also an excellent drag racer. For the extra edge he needs to win, Gene uses AMSOIL Lubricants in all his race cars.

"I have a 1989 Mustang GT with a TEXAS TURBO prepared turbocharged 5 Liter engine. The car has set records all over the United States at various drag strips, and it runs a 1/4 mile time consistently around 10.43 seconds at 130 mph through the muffler," said Gene.

Gene added, "I use AMSOIL in both the rear end and the engine due to its lubricating properties that reduce friction, which translates into horsepower. The other reason I use AMSOIL Synthetic Lubricants is because of its higher resistance to 'coking.' I have to make hard runs, where the turbine wheel approaches 1700 degrees Fahrenheit at 15 psi of boost. I don't have to leave the car running as long to circulate oil to cool of the shaft since the cooking point is higher. This means the engine has a longer cool down period for the next run.

"The Mustang GT is also used for street driving, as the power seats, door locks, electric windows and stereo system are still intact. Drag Racer, Rex Shobe, Praises AMSOIL

AMSOIL synthetics and Rex Shobe’s Oldsmobile are a winning combination. Rex is a Dealer in Kimberly, Idaho. He got into AMSOILproducts mainly for his 1976 Oldsmobile drag racer. Rex put AMSOIL Series 2000 20W-50 in his 5-year old 485 horsepower 455 engine prior to a race in 1999. Rex’s car ran an elapsed time of 7.62 at 87 mph in the eighth mile and a 12.32 elapsed time at 107 mph on the quarter mile which earned him two wins. “After putting AMSOIL in the engine we found an oil pressure gain,” Rex said. “Elapsed times picked up a little after several runs once the oil got worked in.”

Rex also uses AMSOIL Series 2000 racing grease in the U-joints and front wheel bearings. “I am still using the parts I had in the car 4 years ago when I started using the grease, “ Rex said.
